Genarally we Gujaratis Prefer Thepla in our breakfast. It is made out of Besan, Wheat flour, fresh Fenugreek leaves, and some spices like, ginger, green chilies, and Garlic. But Remember it should be having a tinge of sugar in it! And offcourse the dried spices, that is red chilli powder, Turmeric, and salt to taste.
Khaman
Just waiting for the release!
The latest Song from this movie thats Nagada sang dhol baje... Is just awsome! In the entire song there is a part when few Gujarati lyrics have been added and that sounds just so Gujju!!
The Lyrics Goes like:
Leeli lemdi re
Leelo nagarvel no chhod
Parbhu parodh na re
Maar gher uttaara karta jaao
Utaaro nahi karun re
Maar gher Sita juve vaat
Sita ekla re
Juve ram-lakhman ni vaat.
Well I started off with the Title, Gujju Cuisine, apologies for going on a different track. So here we are, the Gujju Cuisine, and today I am gonna Share some great stuff about the same.
Gujarati food is one of the famous and well known Cuisines.
But yet people are'nt much aware about it!
A basic Gujarati or a traditional Gujarati food , thats starting from the Breakfast to dinner.
Here Goes!!
Breakfast {Nasto in Gujarati}
Thepla
Genarally we Gujaratis Prefer Thepla in our breakfast. It is made out of Besan, Wheat flour, fresh Fenugreek leaves, and some spices like, ginger, green chilies, and Garlic. But Remember it should be having a tinge of sugar in it! And offcourse the dried spices, that is red chilli powder, Turmeric, and salt to taste.
And the most famous Khaman Or generally known as Dhokla. Made up of Besan, Yogurt, Green Chillies, Turmeric, Sugar, and salt to taste. This is one of those dishes which is prepared by baking as well as steaming.
Khandvi
A less Popular one. But a real delightful savoury, tastes sour, sugary, and just like a tasty yogurt, with green chillis etc.
Again thats made of besann and buttermilk, cooked for a long time consistently stirring the mixture made out of these ingrdients and then after a thick paste\batter is formed, it is placed on a flat surface and cooled for a couple of minutes.Cut into long parallel rectangles, Rolled and finally it looks like this. And trust me it tastes like heaven, If you have'nt then You surely will miss something heavenly.
Well Adios, for now only this much, running out of time. The next part of Gujjarati Cuisine in my coming Blog!
Till then leaving you guys with these beautiful pictures depicting the Gujarati Culture, its heritage, the colours, Garba, Khandvi, Dhokla, Etc, Etc. :-D
